Arun Jaitley takes charge as defence minister

A day after he was given additional charge of the union ministry of defence, Arun Jaitley took charge as the in-charge Defence minister. The post was left vacant after Manohar Parrikar resigned to return to Goa as its Chief Minister.

Arun Jaitley who had previously held the post of the defence minister was assigned additional charge of the ministry after the President accepted Manohar Parrikar's resignation. The position has been assigned on an ad-hoc basis and the government is likely to suggest a name for the ministry after political scenario in Goa and Manipur settles down.
