Chhattisgarh Government Transfers Officials Following Arson and Mob Violence in Kabirdham

The Chhattisgarh government has reassigned the Kabirdham district collector and superintendent of police. This decision follows the burning of a deputy sarpanch's house after a man's death on 15 September. Gopal Verma will now serve as the collector, replacing Janmejay Mahobe. Rajesh Agrawal will take over as the superintendent of police from Abhishek Pallava.

Officials Transferred After Kabirdham Violence

In connection with the incident, 23 personnel from Rengakhar police station have been removed. They were accused of assaulting residents of Loharidih village. An investigation into this matter is underway, led by Additional District Magistrate Nirbhay Kumar Sahu.

Incident Details and Arrests

Several individuals were arrested for allegedly setting fire to the house of Raghunath Sahu, the deputy sarpanch of Loharidih village. The attack was reportedly motivated by suspicions that he was involved in the death of Shivprasad Sahu, also known as Kachru. Kachru was discovered hanging from a tree in Bijatola village, located in Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh.

The preliminary findings indicated that the assault on Raghunath Sahu stemmed from these suspicions. Police managed to rescue three injured family members of Raghunath, including his wife, who were subsequently hospitalised.

Police Response and Consequences

SP Pallava was among those injured during the mob attack on the deputy sarpanch's residence. Following these events, Prashant Sahu was arrested for his involvement in the arson. He later complained of uneasiness and was hospitalised on Tuesday but died after being discharged the next day.

Due to Prashant Sahu's death, Kabirdham Additional Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar faced suspension. Meanwhile, Abhishek Pallava has been reassigned as Assistant Inspector General at the police headquarters in Nava Raipur.

The situation remains tense as authorities continue their investigation into these incidents. The government aims to restore order and ensure justice is served for all parties involved.
