Arrest of Amritpal Singh’s aide brings out Pakistan link in the open

The Indian Intelligence agencies have been stating for long that the ISI has been using gangsters and terrorists based abroad to fuel the Khalistan movement in India.

The Pakistan connection to Amritpal Singh is becoming even more clear, following a series of investigations that have been conducted.

Amritpal Singh, the radical Sikh leader is on the run after the Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt for him. His supporters had gone violent during an agitation at the Ajnala police during which they had demanded the release of one of their aides, Lovepreet Toofan.

Following the arrest of Amritpal's aide Daljit Singh Kalsi, the link with Pakistan became even more clear. Kalsi according to a Hindustan Times report had submitted a memorandum against India to the Consul General of Pakistan in the Sikh separatist hub of Vancouver in Canada.

Kalsi was detained under Section 3(2) of the National Security Act and is a key aide cum advisor to Amritpal Singh, the leader of the Waris Punjab De.

Kalsi is a resident of West Punjabi Bagh and is said to be an actor and write. He is also behind the surprising appointment of Amritpal Singh as the leader of the radical group.

Amritpal was mysteriously roped in as the leader of the outfit, following the death of Deep Sidhu in a car crash. He was in Dubai prior to being brought to Punjab. Since his arrival, Amritpal has styled himself on the lines of terrorist, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Kalsi was also part of the conspiracy to vandalise the Ajnala police station on February 23 2023. He has also been actively involved with the Pakistani establishment in a bid to promote the Khalistan movement in Punjab.

India has often raised concerns about the rise of this movement and how Pakistan has been fuelling the same. Pakistan's ISI has been using Sikh radicals hiding in the UK, US and Canada to fuel the Khalistan movement in India. The planner according to the Intelligence agencies are based in Canada and UK. Moreover it has been found that these elements have been using the gangster network to commit acts of terror in India. Several cases of terror related incidents and murders have taken place in Punjab courtesy this network.

    The National Investigation Agency (NIA) too has undertaken several raids in a bid to bust this network. The investigations in these cases are ongoing, the NIA said.
