The Raigad police have registered an abetment to suicide case against three persons, including the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, after an interior decorator committed suicide at an Alibaug bungalow on Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as Anvay Naik who committed suicide by hanging himself at his bungalow.
The case was registered based on a complaint by the interior decorator's wife under Section 306 (abetting suicide) of the IPC.
According to police, they found a suicide note in which three people were mentioned- Goswami, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX and Nitesh Sarda of Smartworks.
"He had carried out some interior design works at the office of Republic TV, for which he had not been paid," said Sanjay Patil, additional SP, Raigad.
However, a statement issued by Republic TV late Saturday said that certain vested interest groups are running a false and malicious campaign and making false statements and innuendos against Republic TV by exploiting a tragic event involving Naik's unfortunate demise.
"All due amounts payable under the contract have been paid,"said a statement issued by the channel.
