Jammu & Kashmir: 5 Soldiers Died, 13 Injured As Indian Army Vehicle Falls Into Gorge In Poonch
A devastating turn of events occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district when an army vehicle, carrying ten soldiers, veered off course and fell into a deep gorge. This mishap led to the death of five soldiers, while five others were left with injuries, one of whom was fortunate enough to emerge without any harm. The incident unfolded in the Gharoa area as the vehicle was en route to Banoi, happening at approximately 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
The soldiers inside the vehicle were heading towards their post when suddenly the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plummet into the gorge. Among the injured, some are reported to be in a critical state and are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Efforts to rescue the soldiers were promptly initiated, with teams working diligently at the site to evacuate those wounded.

In an unrelated yet equally tragic event earlier in the month, Havildar V Subbaiah Varikunta of the 25 Rashtriya Rifles lost his life in a mine blast. This occurred while he was on patrol duty along the Line of Control (LoC) in the same district of Poonch. The unfortunate incident took place when he stepped on a mine during an area domination patrol in the vicinity of Thanedar Tekri along the LoC. In tribute to his valor, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the White Knight Corps, along with all ranks, honored the memory of the brave soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice.
These incidents highlight the perilous conditions faced by soldiers in the region, underscoring the constant risk and sacrifice associated with their duty to protect the nation.
