Apna Dal Chief Shoots Letter To UP CM Over Rejection Of SC, ST, OBC Candidates In Govt Jobs
Union Minister Anupriya Patel and Apna Dal (Sonelal) chief, has raised concerns over the treatment of Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates in Uttar Pradesh government job appointments.
In a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, she highlighted instances of discrimination against OBC, Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

Patel's letter alleges that these candidates, despite meeting the minimum qualifying marks and clearing interviews, are often declared ineligible during the final selection process. The disqualified positions are then declared unreserved, bypassing the candidates from reserved categories.
Patel stressed that all qualifying candidates from these reserved categories should be appointed to their respective positions without reclassification of the vacancies as unreserved due to supposed ineligibility.
This appeal is seen as critical as it marks the first time Patel has publicly questioned the BJP-led state government. Her party, Apna Dal (S), has been a long-standing ally of the Modi government at both the central and state levels.
