AP: 50-year-old rape accused of minor girl found hanging from tree

    A 50-year-old man who was on run after being accused of raping a 9-year-old girl in Guntur was found hanging from a tree in Dachepalli area on Friday morning. The deceased identified as Subbaiah, had reportedly told relatives on the phone that he was going to kill himself.

    On Wednesday, a 9-year-old girl was raped by Subbaiah in Dachepalli of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. It is learnt that the Subbaiah had lured her with chocolates and later raped her. He also dropped the girl and threatened her not to reveal about it or else he would kill her.

    The incident came to light only after the girl complained of bleeding and pain in the stomach on Wednesday afternoon, following which her parents took her to hospital.

    After a medical examination, doctors confirmed that the girl had multiple injuries on her body and had been sexually assaulted. The child, on being asked by her parents, revealed that she was raped by a neighbour, a rickshaw-puller.

    Following the incident, angry locals blocked the highway on Thursday morning demanding the arrest of the accused Arnam Subbhaih, a rickshaw puller, who is absconding. The locals even wanted to raze the house of the accused, said reports.
