Andhra Pradesh: 13 of a family feared dead after boat capsizes

8 of the bodies have been recovered and search for the remaining is on.

Vijayawada, April 28: Around thirteen people drowned in a stream in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh after a boat capsized on Friday.

The dead include seven women and six children. One person was missing while three others were rescued by locals.

Officials said the country boat capsized due to excess weight.

The names of those in the tragedy has not yet been released but rescue operation is underway. More information regarding the missing persons will be available once the official list of persons will be released by government authorities.

According to a leading daily, 20 people were on the boat during the incident in the Erratimma Raju lake of Guntakal block of Anantapur district. They arrived at the house of one Ramayya to attend a function in the nearby village.
