Just two days in office and Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath set off BJP's poll promise of initiating action against roadside harassers and eve-teasers in the state. The Lucknow Police on Tuesday began their anti-Romeo drive in Hajratganj area. special squads arrested three people for allegedly eve-teasing women outside a college.

The Uttar Pradesh police began their crackdown on 'roadside Romeos' after strict instructions from Director General of Police Javed Ahmad to ensure women safety. DGP Ahmad directed police stations and district administrations to ensure zero tolerance for crime against women. Special squads including woman police officers patrolled areas where harassment cases have been reported.

In a video conference meeting with bureaucrats, DGP Ahmad ordered crack down on criminals, organised crime and mafias, apart from stressing on women safety. Police officials were also asked to be accessible to people at all times, respond to complaints and ensure coordination to ensure communal harmony.
