Another Cyclonic Circulation Forms Over Southeast Arabian Sea, IMD Issues Warning

Less than a month after the devastating impact of very severe cyclonic storm Mocha along the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast, another cyclonic circulation is now forming in the southeast Arabian Sea. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted that a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the southeast Arabian Sea around June 5, with the possibility of intensifying into a low-pressure system within the following 48 hours.

In a tweet, IMD Bhubaneswar scientist Umashankar Das said, "A Cyclonic Circulation likely to develop over southeast Arabian Sea around #5th June. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during the subsequent 48 hours."

As this weather system takes shape, the state of Odisha continues to grapple with intense heatwave conditions that have disrupted the lives of the people. In response to the persistent heatwave, the IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for the next five days, urging residents to take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, the weather agency said that the Southwest Monsoon has made further progress, reaching certain parts of the South Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area, as well as additional regions of the South Bay of Bengal & Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. This advancement brings hope for the onset of monsoon rains in these areas.

As the new cyclonic circulation develops in the southeast Arabian Sea, authorities and residents will closely monitor its progress and prepare for any potential impacts. The IMD's early warning systems and continuous monitoring of weather patterns aim to ensure the safety and well-being of those in vulnerable regions.
