Noida: Another Congress candidate joins BJP

New Delhi, April 3: As election dates are closing,

has more reasons to worry. Yet another Congress candidate quit the party and joined

on Thursday.

Ramesh Chand Tomar who is contesting from Gautam Budh Nagar Loksabha seat joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just a week before the polling day April 10.

"Tomar kept us in dark about his plans till today morning, ditched the party in a shocking and shameful manner. He met BJP chief Rajnath Singh in Delhi office today morning to lick BJP boots. And he was misleading Congress workers by saying he is in election commission office to seek election cancellation. Tomar has betrayed not only the party but also local workers," told Dhirendra Singh Congress UP spokesperson.

On Wednesday night, Tomar had held a press conference in Noida's sector 36 and brushed aside all the rumors of his joining BJP as part of big conspiracy by rivals.

"Today morning he left Noida office to Delhi, misleading workers saying he is seeking cancellation of April 10 election, and will meet election commission. But instead went to meet Rajnath Singh, BJP chief in Delhi. He is likely to show-up at Modi rally In Ghaziabad," said Alok Singh Congress spokesperson in Gautam Budh Nagar unit.

On Thursday, BJP announced that Tomar has joined BJP. Tomar's move is likely to benefit BJP in a big way.

However, Congress doesn't feel threatened by Tomar's betrayal or so does the workers claim.

"He left Congress because he realised he is going to lose elections because of Narendra Modi wave. But his action will trouble the Congress the most, and damage Tomar's credibility," said a Congress worker.
