Anil Deshmukh, a former Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP SP leader, was injured when stones were thrown at his vehicle in Nagpur district. Anil Deshmukh Injured in Nagpur Incident

Deshmukh sustained injuries and was initially treated at Katol Civil Hospital. Due to the severity of his head injury, he was later transferred to Nagpur for further medical attention. Vedprakash Arya, an NCP SP spokesperson, condemned the attack and called for a high-level investigation along with police protection for Deshmukh's family.

Investigation Underway

Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police, Harssh Poddar, confirmed the incident and stated that senior officers were dispatched to the scene. An investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible for the attack. The incident coincided with the final day of campaigning for the Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled for November 20.

Deshmukh's son, Salil Deshmukh, is contesting from the Katol assembly constituency on an NCP Sharadchandra Pawar ticket. He faces competition from BJP's Charansingh Thakur. Arya suggested that the attack might be politically motivated due to the opposition's fear of defeat.

Political Tensions Rise

The attack has heightened political tensions in the region as election day approaches. Arya criticised the opposition, claiming they resorted to such cowardly acts due to their impending electoral loss. The police are actively working to gather evidence and apprehend those involved in the assault.

The incident highlights the volatile nature of political campaigns in Maharashtra. Authorities are urged to ensure safety and security during this critical period. As investigations continue, there is a growing demand for accountability and justice for Deshmukh and his family.
