Uttarakhand News: Government Takes Strict Stand in Tripura Student Murder Case; CM Calls Incident Unacceptable

The Uttarakhand government has committed to swift action following the murder of Tripura student Angel Chakma. The Chief Minister warns against disruptors, orders intensified police raids, and coordinates with authorities in Nepal to locate absconding suspects, while prioritising public safety and justice for the victim’s family.

The state government has taken a firm stance in the murder case of Tripura student Angel Chakma, treating the incident with utmost seriousness. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that such incidents are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the state. He asserted that the government would act decisively against anti-social elements and ensure that those involved are brought to justice.

So far, five accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of Angel Chakma, a resident of Nandanagar in Unakoti district of Tripura. Of these, two are minors and have been sent to a juvenile correction home. Police teams are carrying out continuous raids to trace the absconding accused, for whom a reward of ₹25,000 has been announced. A special police team has also been dispatched to Nepal to assist in the search.

The Chief Minister has directed the police to ensure the swift arrest of the absconding accused, expressing confidence that the suspect will soon be taken into custody. He warned that those who attempt to disrupt law and order should not expect any leniency from the government, stressing that such elements would not be dealt with lightly under any circumstances.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to public safety, the Chief Minister said that ensuring the security of every citizen in Uttarakhand remains a top priority. He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased student from Tripura.
