Android Users Beware Of WhatsApp Pink Scam

A severe warning has been issued by the governments and police departments of several states across the country against a new scam 'WhatsApp Pink Scam'.

Reportedly, the 'WhatsApp Pink' scam has duped several persons.

A tweet from the North Region Cyber Police Crime Wing has issued a warning "WHATSAPP PINK - A Red Alert For Android Users."

Even the Government's Cybersecurity agencies have also issued several warnings against rising cases of WhatsApp Pink Scam.

Now what is WhatsApp Pink Scam? And how will you safeguard yourself from this scam?

WhatsApp Pink is a fake version of the basic Android app that claims to offer enhanced features. Scammers send messages asking users to download 'New Pink Look WhatsApp with extra features'.

Scamsters will get easy access to your phone's data if you download WhatsApp Pink. Later they can misuse your bank details, contact numbers, photos, and more.

You can also receive messages from your friends who are hacked to download the app.

Android Users have to be careful as Apple does not allow users to download apps from third-party app stores or APK files.

By downloading WhatsApp Pink, users risk losing control of their mobile devices completely. Fraudsters may get complete access to the user's mobile including calls and messages.

Cyber security agencies as well as police have warned users that hackers may access personal photos to blackmail them or for the wrong purpose.

To stay safe from the WhatsApp Pink scam, make sure that you download the WhatsApp app or any update from the Google Play Store only. Do not download any version of WhatsApp from a third-party app store or an APK file how many extra features they may promise.
