Key Figures Including Pawan Kalyan File Nominations for Andhra Pradesh Elections
In a significant political development in Andhra Pradesh, key figures including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, and former Union ministers MM Pallam Raju and JD Seelam, have officially entered the electoral fray by filing their nominations for the upcoming elections. This move marks a crucial phase in the state's political landscape as it gears up for both assembly and Lok Sabha polls slated for May 13, with the counting of votes on June 4.

Pawan Kalyan, an actor-turned-politician and a prominent face of the Janasena Party, which is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh, submitted his nomination for the Pithapuram assembly seat. Surrounded by local party leaders, his candidacy was announced through a post on X, highlighting his commitment to contesting from this constituency.
On the other side, MM Pallam Raju, who served as the Union human resource development minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, is vying for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat. His political counterpart, JD Seelam, a former Union minister of state for finance under the UPA regime and an ex-IAS officer, has filed his nomination for the Bapatla Lok Sabha constituency. Seelam is set to challenge Nandigam Suresh from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Adding to the list of nominations is senior YSRCP leader V Vijayasai Reddy, who has thrown his hat in the ring for the Nellore Lok Sabha seat. Expressing gratitude towards YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for this opportunity, Reddy shared his nomination news on X after submitting his papers at the Nellore district collector's office.
The electoral battle in Andhra Pradesh is intensifying with a total of 111 nominations filed for the Lok Sabha elections and 630 for assembly polls as per a press release from the Chief Electoral Officer's office of Andhra Pradesh. The state is set to witness a closely contested battle across its 175-member assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.
This election season brings together a mix of seasoned politicians and new entrants, all aiming to secure their positions in both the state assembly and the national parliament. With such significant figures entering the race, the political dynamics of Andhra Pradesh are poised for an interesting turn as parties strategize to capture voter sentiment ahead of the crucial polling day.
