Andhra Pradesh Government Grants Rs 10 Lakh to Family of Minor Rape Victim

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha announced on Monday that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of a minor girl who was gang-raped in Nandyal district. The incident occurred on July 7, when three boys allegedly assaulted the nine-year-old and then pushed her into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal.

Rs 10 Lakh Aid for Rape Victims Family

The girl's body has not yet been found, as the boys keep changing their statements about its location, Anitha stated. Police and National Disaster Response Force personnel are continuing their search efforts. Meanwhile, police have decided to arrest the boys and present them in a juvenile court.

Compensation for Victims

In addition to the Rs 10 lakh sanctioned for the Nandyal incident, Chief Minister Naidu has also approved Rs 5 lakh for an infant girl who was allegedly raped by a male relative in Vizianagaram district. Anitha mentioned that this amount will be deposited as a fixed sum in favour of the infant.

The six-month-old infant was reportedly molested on Saturday by Dora, a 40-year-old man described as a grandfather-like figure, in Ramabhadrapuram village. According to police, the baby's mother had gone out to buy vegetables when Dora entered the house and committed the offence.

Legal Actions and Arrests

Dora was arrested under BNS Section 65(2) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Section 5(M) read with 6, and later remanded. The entire incident took about 10 minutes, and Dora tried to claim ignorance by stating he was drunk at the time.

"We are in the process of arresting the boys tonight Monday and they will be produced in a juvenile court tomorrow," a police officer said. The authorities are determined to bring justice to both victims by ensuring that those responsible face legal consequences.

The Chief Minister's financial assistance aims to provide some relief to the families affected by these tragic incidents. The government is also focusing on stringent actions against perpetrators to prevent such crimes in the future.

Efforts continue to locate the body of the nine-year-old girl, with authorities working tirelessly despite the challenges posed by conflicting statements from the accused. The community remains hopeful for closure as search operations persist.
