Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2024: Know Full Schedule, Candidate Names, Seat-Sharing Agreement
As per the Election Commission of India, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections are to coincide with the Lok Sabha polls, also scheduled for May 13. This election will determine the composition of the 175-member assembly in Andhra Pradesh. Among the 175 assembly seats, 29 are designated for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and seven for the Scheduled Tribes (STs).

The deadline for submitting nominations for the elections was April 25, 2024, while candidates had until April 29, 2024, to withdraw their nominations if they chose to do so. The voting is to take place on May 13, 2024, and the counting of votes and announcement of results is scheduled for June 4, 2024.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2024: Polling Date and Time
The voting for the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is taking place today, May 13, in a single phase. Voting commences at 7 AM and will conclude at 6 PM, except for select areas where voting will finish an hour or two earlier.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2024: Key Candidates
In the ongoing Assembly elections, there is tight competition between the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janasena, and other parties.
Current Chief Minister and YSRCP president, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is running for re-election from Pulivendula, alongside several other prominent candidates. These include N. Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of TDP, contesting from the Kuppam seat, and Pawan Kalyan, the chief of Janasena and a well-known actor, running from the Pithapuram constituency. In addition, Andhra Pradesh's Congress President, YS Sharmila, is contesting from the Kadapa seat, and Purandeswari, the chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a candidate from the Rajamahendravaram constituency.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2024: Seat-Sharing Agreement
The YSRCP is contesting for all 175 Assembly seats in the state. In a seat-sharing agreement within the NDA coalition, the TDP has been assigned 144 Assembly, while the BJP will vie for 10 Assembly seats. Meanwhile, the Janasena party is contesting for 21 Assembly seats.

This year, the southern state has a total of 4.14 crore voters, comprising 2.02 crore males, 2.1 crore females, 3,421 third-gender voters, and 68,185 service electors.
