Four Arrested in Andhra Pradesh for Filming and Sharing Rape Video

In a distressing incident that has come to light from Andhra Pradesh, police action has been swift following the circulation of a video depicting the alleged rape of a minor girl. The Andhra Pradesh Police detained four individuals on Friday, identified as Bale Balasubrahmanyam (22), Gantashala Chandrasekhar (28), Peddireddi Dharmateja (19), and Jayamangala Hari Krishna (20), for their involvement in filming and disseminating the video of the heinous act committed by a juvenile.

Arrests Made Over Rape Video

The appalling event is reported to have occurred on May 15 in Chintapadu village, Eluru district, but only recently came to public attention. The minor victim, a Class-7 student, had reportedly gone to a government school to collect books when she was led into the premises and assaulted by the accused juvenile, a Class-10 student. The arrested individuals, who were acquainted with the juvenile, recorded this act and shared the footage widely.

The girl's parents were prompt in their response, filing a police complaint that led to the arrests under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 376(3) (rape), 354C (voyeurism), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 109 (punishment of abetment). Furthermore, charges were also laid under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act, reflecting the serious nature of the crimes committed.

The juvenile involved has been sent to a juvenile home, while the four men have been remanded by police authorities. This case highlights not only the grave issue of sexual violence but also the disturbing trend of such acts being recorded and shared across digital platforms. The legal proceedings against the accused will be closely watched as this case progresses through the judicial system.

As this case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in safeguarding minors and combating digital crimes. The Andhra Pradesh Police's prompt response in this matter underscores their commitment to addressing such violations with the seriousness they warrant. Legal experts and child protection advocates will likely follow this case closely, as it involves significant concerns regarding child safety, digital privacy, and legal accountability.
