Andhra police officer's bit to promote yoga
Kurnool, June 20: A top police officer in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district has come out with an album to encourage people to practise yoga.
Ake Ravi Krishna, the Superintendent of Police of Kunrool, released the album on the eve of the World Yoga Day.

As someone who has been practising yoga for several years, the Indian Police Service (IPS) believes the age old discipline can help one overcome stress and contribute to healthy living.
The six-minute album shows Ravi Krishna performing various 'asanas'. "Whatever may be the level of stress, you should stand on your feet," goes the tagline of the video shot in some beautiful locales in Kurnool.
The officer, who is popular for his people-friendly policies, contribution to social causes, philanthropic activities and education, has uploaded the album on social networking sites.
The compact discs (CDs) of the album are also being distributed in colleges and schools.
"Yoga can do a lot in helping youth and students overcome stress. Unable to cope up with mental stress, some youngsters are unfortunately committing suicides and I believe yoga can save these precious lives," Ravi Krishna told IANS.
As the level of stress is also high among police personnel, Krishna is motivating the force to practise yoga.
Ravi Krishna became popular in the district after he adopted Kappatralla village, the symbol of dreaded factional violence in Rayalaseema region.
Through his initiatives like night halt in the village, interaction with every family, building a school and providing job training for youth, he restored peace in Kappatralla and surrounding villages where violence between factions fighting for supremacy claimed 200 lives over the last couple of decades.
Last month, the police officer personally gave a decent burial to seven infants abandoned at the Kurnool Government Hospital as their parents were not in a position to afford the cost of final rites.
