Andhra Pradesh High Court Quashes Case Against Allu Arjun for Alleged Election Code Violation

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a police case against Telugu actor Allu Arjun. The case alleged that Arjun violated the model code of conduct during the general election. This decision came after a review and deliberations by the court.

Andhra HC Dismisses Case Against Allu Arjun

According to the FIR, Arjun visited YSRCP leader Shilpa Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy's residence in Nandyala town on May 11. The visit occurred without prior approval from the returning officer, leading to a large public gathering.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings

The police registered a case, naming Arjun as A1 and Reddy as A2. The FIR claimed that Reddy knew about the potential for a large crowd but did not seek permission for Arjun's visit, which led to a breach of electoral rules.

Arjun and Reddy approached the high court to have the case dismissed. They argued that Arjun's visit was personal and not politically motivated. They also stated they should not be held accountable for the crowd outside Reddy's house.

Court's Decision

In October, the court temporarily halted all proceedings related to the case. On Wednesday, it quashed the petition against both Arjun and Reddy after reviewing the details of the case.

The court's decision brings relief to both parties, who maintained their innocence throughout the legal process. They argued that their actions did not warrant legal action under the electoral rules.

This ruling underscores the importance of distinguishing between personal visits and political activities during election periods. It also highlights the need for clarity in enforcing electoral conduct rules.
