He highlighted the challenges users face when trying to retrieve funds from expired gift cards. Kalyan noted that while adding money to an Amazon gift card is easy, recovering funds from an expired card is much more complicated.

Challenges with Gift Card Refunds
Kalyan explained that depositing money into an Amazon gift card is a smooth process. Users just need to enter their card or UPI details to complete the transaction. However, retrieving funds from an expired gift card involves contacting customer service and navigating a complex procedure. This issue was shared in a post on X.In his message, Kalyan tagged Amazon, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the RBI. He questioned why a straightforward solution couldn't be implemented to automatically refund unused balances to linked bank accounts. "This would save time and prevent users from losing their gift card voucher funds," he stated.
Call for User-Friendly Solutions
Kalyan emphasised the need for a user-friendly approach to protect customers and build trust among millions of users. He urged Amazon to consider a simpler resolution as many users are affected by this issue. "E-commerce platforms must promote simplicity, transparency, and equity," he reiterated.The Deputy Chief Minister's appeal aims to address the inconvenience faced by users in recovering their funds. By implementing automatic refunds for unused balances, e-commerce platforms could enhance user satisfaction and trust significantly.
