Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu Seeks Financial Support from PM Narendra Modi for Key Projects

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss financial aid for state projects and the ArcelorMittal steel plant. During their 45-minute meeting, Naidu expressed gratitude for the financial support provided for the Polavaram irrigation project and Amaravathi capital city development. He informed that work on these projects has resumed.

Naidu highlighted the state's financial difficulties, citing the diversion of funds by previous governments from 94 centrally-sponsored schemes. Of these, 74 have been relaunched. He requested special assistance, noting that revenue deficit grants meant for five years were exhausted in just three years by the previous administration.

Financial Assistance and Project Plans

The chief minister sought central help for raw material supply and faster clearances for the ArcelorMittal steel plant. He presented the Swarnandhra Vision-2047 document, which aligns with India's Viksit Bharat program. Naidu also outlined plans for upcoming foundation stone laying ceremonies and project inaugurations.

Following his meeting with Modi, Naidu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. They discussed Andhra Pradesh's financial situation and sought the release of funds under various categories. State Finance Minister Payyavula Kesav and several Union ministers were present along with party MPs during these discussions.

Engagements with Other Ministers

Earlier, Naidu attended the birth centenary celebrations of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also participated in a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting at BJP president JP Nadda's residence. Additionally, Naidu held talks with Steel Minister H S Kumaraswamy and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The meetings aimed to address Andhra Pradesh's pressing financial needs and secure support for ongoing and future projects. The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between state and central governments to achieve development goals.
