Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu Engages Bill Gates on Health and Education Partnerships at WEF

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met with Microsoft founder Bill Gates. They discussed potential collaborations to make Andhra Pradesh a hub for healthcare, education, and innovation. A centre of excellence for health innovation and diagnostics was proposed to provide advanced services in the state.

Naidu and Gates Discuss Health Partnerships

Naidu expressed his enthusiasm about meeting Gates, stating, "I am delighted to meet Bill Gates again after a long time... His focus on technology and innovation has been an inspiration to all. We discussed opportunities for collaboration in health and AI innovation, and I look forward to BMGFs Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation partnership in Andhra Pradeshs progress." The Chief Minister invited Gates to join the advisory board of a planned artificial intelligence university in Andhra Pradesh.

Technology Partnerships and Investments

Naidu also met with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, urging him to consider Visakhapatnam as a potential site for a chip design centre. Google is currently manufacturing its own chips for server operations. Naidu shared on X, "Had an engaging discussion with Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, and Andre Nakazawa, manager International Organisation at Google. We explored the latest advancements in technology and the incredible opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. With our exceptionally talented youth, we're poised to redefine the future of tech!"

In discussions with Petronas President Muhammad Taufiq, Naidu encouraged investment in Mulapeta's emerging petrochemical hub. Petronas plans to produce 5 million tonnes of green ammonia by 2030 and is considering investing up to Rs 15,000 crore in a plant in Kakinada. The company is exploring opportunities in green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green molecules within India.

Engagements with Global Corporations

The Chief Minister also engaged with Eugene Willemsen from Pepsi International Franchise Beverages and Stephen Kehoe from the PepsiCo Foundation. He invited them to establish Visakhapatnam as PepsiCo's global delivery centre and set up a digital hub. Additionally, Naidu requested PepsiCo to create a KurKure manufacturing unit and collaborate with local farmers for supply chain needs.

Naidu met Hamad Al Mahmeed from Bahrain's Prime Minister's Office and Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa from Mumtalakat. He introduced them to Andhra Pradesh's new industrial policies and invited them to observe the state's business efficiency firsthand.

Focus on Clean Energy Initiatives

The Chief Minister sought support from Roberto Bocca of the World Economic Forum (WEF) for attracting global investments in green hydrogen, battery storage, and solar manufacturing sectors in Andhra Pradesh. He also requested assistance for establishing a clean energy knowledge and skill development centre in the state.

Additionally, Naidu had discussions with Unilever's Chief Supply Officer Willem Uijen about potential investments in palm oil production worth Rs 330 crore. He suggested Visakhapatnam as a location for Unilever's technology centre.

The series of meetings at Davos highlighted Andhra Pradesh's commitment to becoming a leader in technology and sustainable development through strategic partnerships and investments.
