Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Alleges United Opposition Front Against Him

In a significant political development from Proddaturu, Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, leading the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), has voiced concerns over a concerted opposition campaign against him. During a public meeting in Kadapa district, part of the 'Memanta Siddham' election campaign bus tour on March 27, Reddy highlighted the coalition of opposition parties, including TDP, Janasena, BJP, Congress, certain media houses, and notably, two of his sisters, united against him.

Reddy's remarks underscored the political dynamics in Andhra Pradesh, pointing out the involvement of his younger sister Y S Sharmila, president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), and his cousin Sunitha Narreddy. Narreddy has been actively campaigning for justice in the murder case of her father Y S Vivekananda Reddy. The Chief Minister's statement reflects a deep political rift, emphasizing his solitary stand against a broad alliance.

The Chief Minister accused this coalition of orchestrating a malicious campaign targeting him on various fronts, including the unresolved murder of his uncle and recent drug seizures at Vizag port. He alleged connections between the importing company and relatives of Andhra Pradesh BJP chief D Purandeswari and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.

Amid these allegations, Reddy has called upon the electorate to support YSRCP in the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections, aiming for a decisive victory to counteract what he terms an 'alliance of conspiracies’. He confidently stated that his administration has successfully delivered on 99 per cent of its election promises, with Rs 2.7 lakh crore disbursed under various welfare schemes through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

The 'Memanta Siddham' bus tour marks Reddy's first campaign trail following the announcement of election schedules by the Election Commission. Starting from Idupulupaya in Kadapa district, this 21-day journey is set to cover 21 districts and 148 assembly constituencies, concluding at Icchapuram in Srikakulam district. This initiative offers a platform for direct interaction with citizens across Andhra Pradesh.

With elections for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh scheduled for May 13 and vote counting on June 4, the political atmosphere is charged. The YSRCP's strategic focus on grassroots engagement through public meetings and interactions during this bus tour underscores their readiness for the electoral battle ahead.
