Andaman and Nicobar Islands Celebrates Foundation Day as a Symbol of India's Unity in Diversity

On Foundation Day, Lt Governor D K Joshi emphasised the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a true reflection of India's unity in diversity, celebrating its rich culture and resilience.

The Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, D K Joshi, extended his greetings to the residents on the foundation day of the archipelago. He remarked that the islands exemplify India's unity in diversity. Joshi highlighted the Cellular Jail as a monument symbolising the bravery and sacrifice of India's freedom fighters, once a site of colonial oppression.

An event was held at Raj Niwas to celebrate this occasion, where attendees discussed their experiences with the central government's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative. The islands are seen as a microcosm of India's diverse culture, blending various traditions and customs with the unique heritage of indigenous tribes.

Unity in Diversity

Joshi emphasised that despite challenges like the devastating tsunami, the resilience of the islanders has turned the archipelago into a flourishing destination. Known for its natural beauty and harmony, it is admired for its progress. The governor also noted significant improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, and public welfare as part of the islands' transformation.

"May this Foundation Day inspire us to work together with renewed dedication and unity towards realising the shared vision of a strong, progressive, and ‘Viksit Bharat’," he added.
