Amritpal Singh’s Mercedes belonged to a drug lord

Since the arrival of Amritpal Singh in Punjab, not only has the violence shot up, but the consignments arriving in the state carrying arms, ammunition and drugs from Pakistan have also gone up.

The Mercedes SUV used by radial Sikh leader, Amritpal Singh to flee from the Punjab Police belonged to a drug lord, reports have said.

The Punjab Police has launched a massive manhunt for the pro-Khalistan leader, but have failed to arrest him so far.

The Punjab Police has learnt that the Mercedes SUV was gifted to Amritpal Singh by a drug boss, reports said.

The Mercedes was said to have been gifted by Ravel Singh, a drug dealer. Singh has been seen driving around in the same vehicle. When the police was about to arrest him, he was seen fleeing in the Mercedes. He is said to have later ditched the Mercedes and taken a bike to evade the police.

It was found by the police that Amritpal Singh was building a private militia of youth from drug addiction centres. The youth were to be used to creating law and order problems in Punjab and organising violent protests.

The de-addiction centres were being used to stock up illegally sourced weapons from Pakistan.

Pakistan has on many counts used drones to drop off arms and ammunition into Punjab.

The police and the Intelligence have learnt that Singh was being funded by the ISI. The spy agency would help him run the drug business, through which funds were being raised to revive the Khalistan movement.

Singh has been an open proponent of the Khalistan movement. Through his outfit, Waris Punjab De, he was running a campaign to seek a separate Punjab nation called Khalistan. The outfit was founded by Deep Sidhu and following his death, Singh was flown in from Dubai to fill in.

Singh's contact with the ISI took place when he was working as a truck driver in Dubai. The ISI convinced him to go to Punjab and incite the youth and fight violently and demand a Khalistan state.
