Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: These 87 Stations From Gujarat To Get Makeover
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that 87 stations out of 1309 stations across the country will be redeveloped under 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme'.
Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Union MInister said the Ministry of Railways has introduced the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' to enhance the development of stations across the Indian Railways network. This initiative is designed to facilitate the continuous and long-term improvement of stations.

Under the scheme, Master Plans are formulated and implemented in phases to enhance various facilities at the stations. These improvements encompass station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators as needed, cleanliness, free WiFi, kiosks for local products (via schemes like 'One Station One Product'), enhanced passenger information systems, executive lounges, designated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, and more. The specific enhancements are tailored to the unique requirements of each station, he said in the written statement.
Furthermore, the scheme emphasizes the improvement of station buildings, integration with both sides of the city, multimodal integration, provisions for Divyangjans, adoption of sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions, installation of ballast-less tracks, incorporation of 'Roof Plazas' based on necessity, and the creation of city centers at the station in the long term, taking into consideration the phasing and feasibility of these developments.
