Amity University Slap Case: Student Assaulted 26 Times, FIR Filed Against Six Students

The Lucknow police have filed an FIR against six Amity University students after a shocking video from the campus went viral on social media. The footage showed a law student being slapped 26 times inside a car in the university parking area.

The FIR, registered at Chinhat Police Station, names Jhanvi Mishra, Ayush Yadav, Milan Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla among the accused. The complaint was lodged by the victim, who alleged that he was physically assaulted and humiliated by fellow students. Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway.

The incident reportedly took place on August 26 but surfaced only after the video began circulating online. In the clip, the victim is repeatedly slapped and verbally abused by both a male and a female student, while others watched. The attackers can also be heard making remarks about "character" and questioning the victim about two girls, Janvi and Somiya.

Earlier, Lucknow Police stated on X (formerly Twitter) that action was initiated immediately after the video was reported. "Based on the written complaint received at Chinhat Police Station, an FIR has been registered under the relevant sections, and other legal proceedings are being carried out," the official statement read.

Responding to the controversy, an Amity University spokesperson told Dainik Bhaskar that the institution was not aware of the viral video and would comment only after verifying its authenticity.

According to reports, the victim has been left deeply traumatised by the assault, raising questions over campus safety and peer violence in universities.
