Amit Shah vs Mamata Banerjee: BJP Promises Change, Targets TMC Rule In Bengal Campaign Push

The political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the ruling All India Trinamool Congress has intensified in West Bengal, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah launching a sharp attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a rally in Kurseong.

Positioning the BJP as a strong alternative, Shah expressed confidence that his party would form the next government in the state. He accused the TMC of failing on multiple fronts, ranging from governance and fund allocation to law and order, and said the time had come for political change in Bengal.

A major focus of Shah's address was the long-standing concerns of the Gorkha community in the Darjeeling hills. He alleged that both the TMC and the Indian National Congress had historically ignored their demands. In contrast, he promised that a BJP government would deliver a lasting solution within six months, while also withdrawing what he described as "false cases" against Gorkha residents.

The BJP leader also targeted the state government over resource distribution, claiming that North Bengal and tribal regions had not received a fair share of funds. According to him, such imbalances reflect the TMC's governance model and would be corrected if the BJP comes to power.

Law and order emerged as another key flashpoint in the BJP vs TMC narrative. Referring to incidents like those in Sandeshkhali, Shah alleged a rise in crimes, particularly against women, under the current administration. He promised strict action and accountability, asserting that a BJP government would prioritise safety and justice.

With multiple rallies planned across constituencies such as Kulti, Salboni and Chandipur, the BJP is stepping up its campaign, aiming to challenge the TMC's stronghold. As the contest sharpens, the political discourse in West Bengal is increasingly defined by direct attacks, competing promises, and a high-stakes battle for power between the two parties.
