Amit Shah Says Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir Is India's Part

A couple of days after implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave his first reaction on Friday at the India Today Conclave. Amit Shah said the BJP promised CAA before the 2019 elections and one more Modi ki Guarantee (Promise) has been fulfilled.

Amit Shah said people who took refuge in India before December 31, 2014, are our brothers and have complete right to live with dignity.

Under the Citizenship Amendment Act, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Christian, and Parsi minority immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, who have lived in India for more than 5 years will have a right to citizenship.

When asked about atrocities happening on "Muslims in Balochistan and their exclusion from the scope of the CAA," the Home Minister said CAA was a big decision and drafted after several rounds of discussions and reviewing many things. "If any other communities like Baloch approach us in the future, we will think about it. But why should we neglect the existing ordeal of persecuted people in that bid?" Shah said.

Shah excited everyone when he said, "Muslims and Hindus of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are our own and PoK is India's part."

Answering the question of why Muslims were not allowed to get refuge under CAA, Amit Shah said "At the time of independence, there were 23 percent of Hindus in Pakistan. Today, there are 2.7 percent. Where did they go? What happened to them? I will tell you, that minor girls were forced into marriage for religious conversion, they faced atrocities. Either they migrated to India. They took refuge in India to save the modesty of their mothers, why should we not give them nationality?"

The Parliament passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill in 2019, after which, it became a law, which was implemented last week.
