Amit Shah Engages with Tripura Tribal Council Delegation to Address Indigenous People's Concerns

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently engaged in discussions with the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) delegation. The meeting, held during Shah's two-day visit to Tripura, focused on addressing the concerns of the state's indigenous communities. Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed this interaction, marking the first such meeting since the Tiprasa Accord was signed in March between Tipra Motha, the state government, and the Centre.

During his visit, Shah attended the 72nd plenary session of the North East Council. Chief Minister Saha shared on Facebook that he participated in a significant meeting in Agartala, chaired by Amit Shah. The meeting included leaders from TTAADC and other key figures like BJP's Northeast coordinator Sambit Patra and state ministers. They discussed strategies to empower and uplift indigenous communities.

Progress on Tiprasa Accord

Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also attended the meeting. He expressed on Facebook that the discussion focused on advancing the Tiprasa Accord. "The Home Minister has stressed for an early solution for our Tiprasa people which we welcome," Debbarma noted. This emphasis on swift resolution was well-received by those involved.

A K Mishra, advisor for the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Northeast region, is leading efforts to resolve indigenous issues. He has already conducted two rounds of talks in Delhi with representatives from both the Tripura government and Tipra Motha. These discussions aim to find a peaceful resolution to ongoing challenges.

Engagement with Local Leaders

In addition to formal meetings, Amit Shah interacted with party leaders, tribal heads known as samajpatis, and elders. This engagement is seen as a positive step towards addressing local concerns. "Things are moving in the right direction," Debbarma added, indicating optimism about future developments.

The collaborative efforts between central and state authorities highlight a commitment to addressing indigenous issues in Tripura. By engaging directly with local leaders and stakeholders, there is hope for meaningful progress in empowering these communities.
