Amit Shah Hits Back Hard at Rahul Gandhi For 'Anti-India' Comments Abroad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making "anti-India" and "anti-national" remarks during his international engagements, on Wednesday.

Shah's criticism came in response to Gandhi's statements made while addressing audiences abroad, which he deemed harmful to national interests and security.

Amit Shah's Tweet, Slams Rahul Gandhi

In his tweets, Shah accused Gandhi of perpetually undermining India's security and sentiments with his statements. He charged that Gandhi's behaviour had become a pattern of aligning with forces that sought to destabilize the country. Shah specifically pointed to Gandhi's support for the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's (JKNC) positions, which he claimed were anti-national and anti-reservation.

He argued that Gandhi's support for such positions and his derogatory comments made on foreign platforms reflect a broader pattern of divisive politics pursued by Gandhi and the Congress party. Shah's remarks also focused on Gandhi's recent comments regarding reservations in India.

During an interactive session at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., Gandhi suggested that discussions about abolishing reservations should be considered only when India becomes a fair and just society.

He argued that India is currently not equitable enough to entertain such discussions. Additionally, Gandhi's remarks on religious freedom, made at an event in Virginia, touched upon issues like whether Sikhs are allowed to wear turbans and visit Gurudwaras. He framed these issues as emblematic of broader struggles for religious freedom in India.

Shah responded to these comments by accusing Gandhi of bringing the Congress party's anti-reservation stance to the forefront. He firmly stated that the BJP is committed to maintaining reservations and safeguarding national security. Shah assured that as long as the BJP remains in power, attempts to abolish reservations or undermine national security would be strongly opposed.

The controversy surrounding Gandhi's statements has led to significant backlash from BJP leaders and has further fueled the ongoing political debate. Gandhi's comments have been criticized for allegedly exacerbating political rifts and undermining the country's image on the global stage. This clash between Shah and Gandhi highlights the ongoing tensions and deep divisions within Indian politics regarding issues of national security, reservations, and religious freedom.
