BJP President Amit Shah 'diktats' to party leaders: No more private jets and 5-star hotel stays

New Delhi, August 22: In an attempt to keep the party leaders grounded, the BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday announced some austerity measures that there would no more chartered flights and 5-star hotel stays for the party leaders.

According to a report, Shah has asked the party leaders to follow the austerity drive as chalked out by PM Narendra Modi.

The rule is also applicable for party's patriarch LK Advani along with all other leaders, that now onwards, they will have to travel by regular commercial flights and if possible by trains.

Only in case of emergencies and poll campaigning, the leaders can avail the facility of travelling by private jets.

The another diktat by Shah is that party leaders should avoid staying in 5-star hotels and instead, they must stay in state guest houses, when they are outside their home towns.

Sources said that the move may be taken due to the upcoming assembly elections in four states- to send out a message that the party believes in simplicity and tries to curtail expenditure.

Recently, BJP's veteran leader LK Advani was refused to use private jet for travelling by the party office.

Reportedly, Advani also spoke to the finance minister Arun Jaitley, but he even he could not help Advani in getting jet, after Shah's tough directives.

The party even offered him the normal air ticket, but he refused to take it.
