Why Did Amit Shah Call Out Rahul Gandhi's Arrogance In Parliament?

Amit Shah criticised Rahul Gandhi for displaying arrogance in Parliament after another electoral defeat. During a BJP meeting in Ranchi, Shah highlighted the unusual nature of Gandhi's conduct despite Congress's loss, sparking a debate on parliamentary behaviour and electoral outcomes.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Rahul Gandhi for his behaviour in Parliament, accusing him of arrogance despite another electoral loss. Shah's remarks came during the Jharkhand BJP working committee meeting in Ranchi.

Shah expressed surprise at Gandhi's conduct, stating, "Many a time we see that in democracy, arrogance comes after winning. Such people are in power in Jharkhand." He added, "But arrogance even after being defeated, I have seen it for the first time."

Focus on Parliamentary Conduct

The senior BJP leader referenced the recent Lok Sabha election results to highlight what he perceives as Congress's undue arrogance. "Who won the elections, everyone knows about it, but the arrogance that Congress has, we all have seen it—the acts of Rahul Gandhi in the parliament," Shah said.

Gandhi's aggressive stance in Lok Sabha following the parliamentary elections was a point of contention. As Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Gandhi launched a fierce attack against the treasury benches during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha.

Debate on President's Address

During the debate on the Motion of Thanks to President's address, Gandhi raised issues like NEET and Agniveer while criticising the ruling BJP over its alleged divisive policies. This forced ministers to intervene.

Gandhi has been portraying the election results as a victory for the opposition INDIA bloc since BJP couldn't secure a parliamentary majority on its own. However, Shah countered this narrative by stating that the NDA achieved a full majority in this election.

BJP's Electoral Performance

"I want to tell the Congress leaders from this stage today that the NDA got full majority this election. The BJP alone got 240 seats which is still more than the INDI alliance combined," Shah said. "Then why this arrogance?" he questioned.

Shah emphasised that the BJP secured more seats in this Lok Sabha election compared to Congress’s combined numbers from 2014, 2019, and 2024. He pointed out that despite winning for the third consecutive time, Congress leaders are unable to accept their defeat.

The comments reflect ongoing tensions between BJP and Congress as they navigate post-election dynamics and parliamentary proceedings.
