Amit Malviya slams Priyanka Gandhi after she meets with wrestlers

BJP leader and the party's IT Cell chief, Amit Malviya has hit out at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who expressed solidarity with the protesting wrestlers.

She had met with them at Jantar Jantar on Saturday and also called for the removal of Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment.

While alleging that Priyanka Gandhi's fight against harassment of women is of political convenience, Malviya also raked up the allegation of harassment made by Angkita Dutta against Youth Congress president B V Srinivas.

"Dr Angkita Dutta, former IYC Assam president, pleaded Rahul Gandhi and her to be heard, because she was being harassed by Srinivas B V, national president of IYC. Let alone be given an audience, she was sacked," Malviya said in a tweet.

Dutta had been expelled by the Assam Congress Youth president over allegations of anti-party activities. The development came in the light of her accusation of harassment against Srinivas.

Dutta had fled a complaint at the Dispur police station on April 19 alleging that Srinivas had been harassing her for the past six months and made sexist comments, used slang words and also threatened her with dire consequences, if she keeps complaining against him.

Dutta further alleged that during the plenary session of the party in Raipur, Srinivas allegedly heckled her and threatened to ruin her political career.

Priyanka Gandhi after meeting with the wrestlers and demanded that the copy of the FIR that was filed on Friday should be made public.

"When these girls get medals, everyone tweets, says they are our country's pride but now when they are sitting on the road and seeking to be heard, no one is ready to listen to them. If FIRs have been filed, their copy should be shared with them," Priyanka said.
