Amidst Doklam standoff, heightened Chinese activity reported near Himachal

Amidst the Doklam standoff, heightened Chinese activity has now been reported along the International Border in Himachal Pradesh. Reports of Chinese helicopter movement and road building have been reported by the residents of Lahaul and Spiti.

New Delhi has taken serious note of the matter. There has been work on in this area since the past year, but the activity has increased considerably which has led to heightened security and vigilance in the area.
Himachal shares a 260km porous border on its northeastern side with China. The construction by the Chinese was visible from the Shaktot village which is five kilometres away from Kaurik. China has an airfield in Lupsuk, 190 kilometres away from Kaurik.
