Amid buzz of joining BJP, Sudeep gets threat to leak his 'private' video

Amid rumours of Sudeep joining the BJP on Wednesday ahead of Karnataka polls, the actor has reportedly received a threat letter.

An alleged threat letter was received by his manager Jack Manju, prompting the police to register a case. The known person has said in the letter that Sudeep's 'private video' will be leaked on social media.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the actor's manager, the Puttenahalli police registered a case under sections 504, 506 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Some senior officers are also thinking to hand over the case to Central Crime Branch (CCB), sources told ANI. Further investigation is underway in the matter, said police.

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Sudeep and Darshan are joining the BJP today. "They will join the party in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other party leaders," ANI quoted sources as saying. They will meet the BJP leaders at an upscale hotel.

Will They Really Joining the BJP?
However, the fans of the actors are not sure whether they will be joining any party when they are fully occupied with their professional commitments.

In the past, they have repeatedly stated that they are not keen to enter politics. However, they had campaigned for their friends, cutting across party barriers. Hence, there is still doubt in fans' minds whether Sudeep and Darshan will enter politics at this stage.

Why BJP?
Many might be wondering why Darshan would join the BJP when he had a long association with Congress. His mother Meena Toogudeepa has identified herself with Congress for a long time.

However, Darshan had campaigned for Sumalatha Ambareesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in which she took on Nikhil Kumaraswamy, grandson of former Prime Minister and JDS supreme HD Deve Gowda.
