UPA's trademark was to let every opportunity turn into crisis from 2004-2014: PM Modi in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, Feb 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday replied to the motion of thanks on the President's Address to Parliament. In his speech, prime minister responded to the allegations made by Opposition parties, including the Congress.
Beginning his speech, PM Modi thanked the President of India and said that she guided us and the people of the country in her visionary speech.

"In her visionary Address, the President guided us and crores of Indians. Her presence as the Head of the Republic is historic as well as inspiring for the daughters and sisters of the country," PM Modi in Lok Sabha.
''The President has enhanced the pride of the tribal community. Today, after several years of independence, there is sense of pride in the tribal community and increase in their self-confidence. This nation and House is grateful to her for this,'' PM Modi said.
''I saw the session yesterday, after speech of some members, the entire ecosystem became hyperactive. After the speeches of a few people, some people were happily saying, 'Ye hui na baat'. Maybe they slept well & couldn't wake up (on time). For them it has been said, 'Ye keh keh ke hum dil ko behla rahe hain, wo ab chal chuke hain, wo ab aa rahe hain','' PM Modi shared his observation on ecosystem 'jumping' after some speeches in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
''When Preisdent's Address was going on, some people avoided it. A tall leader even insulted the President. They displayed hatred against ST. When such things were said on TV, the sense of hatred deep within came out. Attempt was made to save oneself after writing a letter later,'' PM said.
Pointing to the address, he stated, "Notwithstanding the pandemic, divided world, geopolitical disturbances, the way the country has waded through the disturbances has filled it with pride and confidence."
''India got the G20 Presidency. There is political stability in the country now. This govt is stable and decisive. This govt takes decision in nation's interests,'' PM Modi said.
PM Modi stated that despite all disturbances in the neighbourhood India has emerged as the 5th largest economy. "Notwithstanding the disturbances, who would not take pride for this fact? It is because of this reason that the world is confident about India."
Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that maybe the members (from the opposition benches) might not be not very happy with this.
Some people here have a craze for Harvard studies. During Covid, it was said that there will be a case study on devastation in India. Over the years an important study has been done at Harvard and the subject of the study is the 'Rise and fall of India's Congress Party'.
''In the last 9 years, 90,000 startups have come up. We rank number 3 in the world in Startups. A huge startup ecosystem has reached every nook and corner of the country. Today, all the credible institutions of the world, all experts who deeply study the global effects and can also make predictions for the future, are very hopeful & excited for India. Why is this happening? Why is the entire world looking at India hopefully?,'' he said.
''In 2010 CWG games were held, it was a big opportunity to show the strength of India's youth to the world but due to scam, India became infamous in the world. The decade before 2014 will be known as lost decade & we can't deny that 2030s decade is India's decade,'' the Prime Minister said.
PM said,''Those who are drunk in arrogance and think that only they have the knowledge, feel that only by abusing Modi will a way come out, that only through false, nonsensical mudslinging on Modi will a path be paved. Vote bank politics harmed country, delayed India's development; middle class was ignored but NDA govt provided them protection. Opposition wasted last 9 years in making allegations, compulsive criticism replaced constructive criticism in this period.''
''A few people, drowning in despair, are unable to accept the country's progress. They don't see achievements of the people of the country. It's the result of the efforts of 140 crore people of the country due to which India is making a name. They don't see those achievements,'' PM Modi said.
