Amicus curiae report on Padmanabha Swamy temple 'disturbing': SC
The report highlighted alleged 'mismanagements' in the temple, which is administered by the Travancore royal family. It was in 2011, a massive treasure trove was found in the underground vaults of the 16th century temple. The treasure found in five vaults has been estimated at over Rs.1 lakh crore. one vault is yet to be opened.
The amicus curiae report had said that the apex court has to intervene in the affairs of the temple for 'transparency and probity'. "Auditors of the temple have failed in performing their ethical and professional duties. There is failure to account effectively for the offerings in cash, currency, gold and silver", said the report.
Reportedly, the amicus curiae had found a massive gold pilferage from the temple.
