Will Smriti be a giant-killer in Amethi?

New Delhi, March 28: Congress president

and her son cum Vice-president of INC

have to brace themselves for a tough fight in their pet constituencies.

While speculation was that Sonia may have to face BJP's star politician Uma Bharti in Rae Bareli, Amethi could see BJP vice-president Smriti Irani pitted against Rahul. Earlier, Baba Ramdev had Tweeted that he had requested the BJP top brass to field Uma Bharti in Rae Bareli.

"I appeal to BJP to place their strong leader Uma Bharti to fight against Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli," he had said. Uma Bharti is currently scheduled to contest from Jhansi in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

Amethi, however, will see an interesting triangular fight between Smriti Irani, Rahul Gandhi and Kumar Vishwas from AAP, the latter having vowed to defeat Rahul, if Irani gets the final nod. On Thursday night, the RSS gave its nod to her candidature.
