American woman alleges sexual assault by sadhu in Vrindavan, case filed

Vrindavan, March 5: A 43-year-old American woman from California has alleged that she was raped by a sadhu in Vrindavan, Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. However, the rape charges are yet to be proved.

According to reports, she was found by the police, lying unconscious on a road in Kotwali area, all battered, bruised and in an inebriated condition on March 3, Tuesday morning.

The woman told police that a sadhu wearing a 'tulsi garland' had held her captive and sexually assaulted her.

The police took her to Mathura district hospital, where her tests were conducted. She is said to be in an 'extreme shock' condition.

The woman had come to Vrindavan on Feb 27 to celebrate Holi . She was staying in one of the guest houses, but went missing, a day later.

On Wednesday, the officials in the US embassy reached Vrindavan to know about her details.

A case has been filed and the probe is going on to find out the culprit.
