Amarinder meets Sonia  

New Delhi, Mar 8: Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today met Congress President Sonia Gandhi here. The two are learnt to have discussed about the names of possible party candidates for the Rajya Sabha from Punjab, party sources said.

The names of former state party president Partap Singh Bajwa, former Congress Legislature Party leader Sunil Jakhar, Manpreet Badal recent entrant to Congress and estranged nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh are doing the rounds as probable party candidates for the election to the upper house.

Names of former Union minister Kapil Sibal and Manish Tewari besides some state dalit leaders are also doing rounds. Two seats of Congress falling vacant on April 2 are those of Ashwani Kumar and MS Gill, both former ministers.
