Along with chai, pakora, Mumbaikars share jokes during deadly rains
On Tuesday, as Mumbai battled against floods, a few residents decided to have some fun over rains on Twitter.
Mumbai, August 30: Rains evoke romance. Isn't it? Unfortunately in today's times, rains mean floods, deaths and devastation.
From Mumbai, Hyderabad to Bengaluru, this monsoon, the country's premier cities are getting a first-hand experience of climate change and falling infrastructure as roads and residential areas are getting flooded in waist-deep rainwaters.
On Tuesday, Mumbai literally witnessed a "horror show" as the entire city was almost drowned after it received a record rainfall of 468 mm in a couple of hours. From offices, hospitals, railway tracks to airports, probably not a single locality survived the anger of rain gods.

However, such a scary situation did not deter the Mumbaikars (mostly those who managed to remain indoors and had access to internet connection) to have some fun over the fatal rains that left at least five people dead.
Who says it is rude on our part to laugh at such a distressing situation? It is not, actually. Remember, laughter is the best medicine to tide over all problems. So, along with India's favourite chai (tea)-pakora (a fried crispy snack made out of chickpea batter and onions) combination to fight all rain-related blues, the residents of the Maximum City kept their spirit alive with humour and sarcasm.
