Allahabad HC Grants Bail to Alleged Mastermind in UPPSC Exam Leak

The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Rajeev Nayan Mishra, also known as Rahul Mishra, in a case concerning the paper leak of the review officer/assistant review officer examination by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). An FIR had been lodged against Mishra, identified as the alleged mastermind behind the paper leak, at Civil Lines police station.

Bail Granted in UPPSC Leak Case

Gangsters Act Case

Despite receiving bail in the Prayagraj case, Mishra remains in custody due to another case under the Gangsters Act. This case was registered by Kaushambi police based on previous criminal cases against him. The Kaushambi police had filed this case under the Gangsters Act due to criminal cases registered at Kokhraj police station, Manjhanpur in Kaushambi, and Civil Lines police station in Prayagraj.

Mishra's counsel stated that Justice Sanjay Kumar Pachori granted bail after hearing arguments from both sides. The defence argued that other co-accused individuals had already been released on bail, and thus Mishra should also be granted bail on similar grounds.

Previous Allegations

Mishra is also accused of masterminding the paper leak for the police constable recruitment exam. The review officer (RO) and assistant review officer (ARO) examination took place on February 11, 2024. UPPSC Secretary Ashok Kumar filed a criminal case on March 2 against unknown persons for the RO/ARO exam paper leak at Civil Lines police station.

The FIR against Mishra led to further legal actions, including the registration of a case under the Gangsters Act by Kaushambi police. These actions were based on multiple criminal cases linked to him across different police stations.

Although Mishra has secured bail in one case, he must still obtain bail for the Gangsters Act case before he can be released. This additional legal hurdle keeps him in custody despite the recent court decision.

The court's decision reflects ongoing legal proceedings and highlights the complexity of Mishra's situation with multiple charges pending against him.
