All Meat And Liquor Shops To Shut Down...

All liquor and meat shops will be closed soon as Ayodhya Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to transform the Ram Path in Ayodhya. According to the reports, the 13-kilometer-long stretch to Ram Temple has undergone extensive redevelopment over the past year, and now, Ayodhya Municipal Corporation will not allow any liquor and meat shop there, citing the religious site and people's sentiments.

Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi told media that Ayodhya Municipal Corporation aims to preserve the sanctity of this path, which is dedicated to Lord Ram, by eliminating the sale of liquor and meat along its route.

Liquor Shops

The implementation of this resolution has sparked discussions, especially among the business community. With a total of 22 establishments, including nine meat shops and 13 liquor outlets, facing permanent closure, the city's trade association has voiced concerns. They urge the provision of alternative locations for these shopkeepers before the new regulations take effect. The association's call highlights the need for a balanced approach that respects both the area's religious importance and the livelihoods of local vendors.

Mayor Tripathi further expanded the scope of restrictions within Ayodhya Dham, the vicinity of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. He announced prohibitions on advertising products such as cigarettes, bidis, gutkha, and innerwear, deeming it inappropriate for the sacred surroundings. These added measures reinforce the city's commitment to maintaining the purity of its religious landmarks. The mayor confirmed that the ban on liquor sales had been communicated to the Ayodhya District Magistrate for enforcement, while a directive for the closure of meat shops is pending further action.
