All is not well: Four in Tamil Nadu arrested for assault on migrant workers
There have been many on the social media who have tried to downplay reports of migrants being assaulted in Tamil Nadu.
On Monday, March 13, four persons, including twomembers of the Hindu Munnani group were arrested for allegedly assaulting migrant workers in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The Coimbatore police said that the arrests were made following an alleged assault on migrant workers near the Mahaliamman Temple in Coimbatore on Sunday night. Two of the suspects were taken into custody after they found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident. They have been remanded in judicial custody.

Coimbatore Police Commissioner, V Balakrishnan told reporters that four people, including two members of the Hindu Munnani group had been taken into custody for alleged attacks on migrant workers on March 12. He said all the suspects were intoxicated during the incident and a case has been registered against them at the PS Variety Hall Road station.
The development comes in the wake of many trying to discredit the entire incident. It was claimed that there was no problem in Tamil Nadu and that everything was perfectly fine.
Mohammed Zubair who has been famous for instigating people on the internet was one of the first to claim that the entire incident of migrants being assaulted was misleading.
"Important thread! There a several scaremongering tweets and videos viral with a false claim that Hindi speaking migrant workers from Bihar are being attacked in Tamil Nadu. Many channels misreported with similar misleading claims," he had said in a tweet.
"Several news channels and social media handles have made it look like the people of Bihar are loving in a war zone in Tamil Nadu. Sharing a few bites of migrant workers from Bihar staying and working in Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu," Zubair said in another tweet.
Rajya Sabha member from Tamil Nadu, P Wilson declared that all the rumours of attacks on migrant workers in the state were an attempt to disrupt peace and harmony in Tamil Nadu. He said that Tamil Nadu was a paradise for people of all languages and religions.
Many others took to Twitter to say that these claims were misleading. Action needs to be taken on people spreading such mis-information. Please make some arrests from the media houses as well. Why they want to portray Tamil Nadu in bad light. TN has always been a safe haven for everyone, another user wrote on Twitter.
YouTuber Nikhil Wagle also emphasised that all was okay in Tail Nadu and the reports of the attacks were fake and misleading.
"Thanks to Zubair for dismantling fake news on Bihari labourers being attacked. His efforts led to prompt action by the TN police. Kudos to Zubair and Tamil Nadu and Bihar governments for their roles,' wrote Dilip Mondal a columnist.
The DMK's poll strategist Prashant Kishor had released a video stating that the attacks were real and should not be ignored by the Tamil Nadu government. He said the incident should be looked into.
