Alert cops prevent a man from committing suicide in Thane
The man, a resident of Bhayander, tried to take the extreme step after having a dispute with his family.
Thane, Sep 6: A 21-year-old man, who allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping into Versova creek in Bhayander in Thane, was saved by the alert cops.
The incident took place on Monday when a coastal patrol team was on duty on a speed boat and saw a man drowning in the creek, while some onlookers also raised an alarm, a press note issued by the Thane police said.
The team then rushed to the spot and rescued him. According to primary investigations, the man, a resident of Bhayander, tried to take the extreme step after having a dispute with his family.
Last month, a 26-year-old was saved by the police from committing suicide in Warangal, Telangana. The woman, Priya, was upset by the fact that her parents did not approve of her marriage. Priya was upset by the fact that both the parents did not accept them even after the birth of their son six days ago and decided to take the extreme step.
The police took Ms. Priya and her newborn to the counselling centre at Hanamkonda police station. The family counsellors and police officials accompanied her to her home in Rayapura and counselled the family.
