Alcohol drives man to madness, throws his 6-year-old son into canal in Agra

The rescue operations went on till Sunday (May 27) morning, but by afternoon the body of the child was recovered from the canal.

People do strange things under the influence of alcohol, but what this man from Agra did is truly shocking. The six-year-old son of Sanjay Alwi, who was in an inebriated state, demanded momos and began crying. Irked by this, Alwi allegedly threw his son in the Agra Canal, said reports.

Passersby saw him throwing the child and informed the police, reported PTI. Local divers were arranged by police, fire brigade, rescue team, disaster team were called to rescue the boy, but could not succeed since it was late night, the police said.

The incident took place between 6.30 pm and 11 pm on Saturday.

The police have confirmed that Alwi, a an e-rickshaw driver, was under the influence of alcohol when he threw his own son into the canal from the Khadar Puliya. Alwi has been arrested.
