Srinagar, March 11: The Home Ministry has sought another clarification from the Jammu and Kashmir government over the release of Masarat Alam, the Hurriyat leader.

The Home Ministry has directed the Jammu and Kashmir government to explain the events leading up to the release of Alam and pointed out that there are discrepancies which have been found in the manner in which he had been released.

Masarat Alam
A Home Ministry official informed OneIndia that there are still many answers that are needed in this case. The replies are not entirely satisfactory and we find some loopholes and discrepancies that led to the release of Alam. If the replies are not satisfactory this time, action will be taken the officer also informed.

Who released Alam?

Alam who was arrested under the Public Safety Act was released a week back. It was alleged that he was released on an order by the new Jammu and Kashmir government to facilitate talks with the Hurriyat.

However later it was claimed that the release was known to the Union Government, a charge that has been denied. The Home Minister then held a high level meeting and ordered a thorough probe into the issue.

The Home Ministry seeks to know if this was a fresh order or was it issued during the earlier regime in Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Ministry had also sought a report from the Jammu and Kashmir government. However, the reply was not satisfactory, which prompted the Home Ministry to seek another reply.

Don't worry about alliance:

The top

BJP leadership has said that no one needs to worry too much about the alliance and give preference to national security instead. Security is more important when compared to the alliance and those persons who pose a security risk and could ensure the return of militancy in the Valley should not be released, the Home Minister has indicated.

The BJP top leadership has also told the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister that the priority is not the government, but security. There cannot be unwarranted release of prisoners from jail. There is a major task ahead to ensure that peace remains in the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Saeed has been told.
