In response to the Indian government's decision to honor former prime minister L K Advani with the Bharat Ratna, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed skepticism, suggesting that the move is politically motivated to prevent the dispersion of BJP votes.

Yadav's Perspective on the Bharat Ratna

Yadav, who was in Balrampur district to pay tribute to a deceased senior SP leader, asserted that the BJP's decision to bestow the Bharat Ratna on Advani is a strategic move to consolidate their voter base before the end of their tenure. He criticized the timing of the honor, implying that it is not a genuine recognition of Advani's contributions but rather a calculated political maneuver.

Seat-Sharing Discussions and Opposition Unity

Regarding seat-sharing arrangements within the opposition INDIA bloc, Yadav expressed optimism about reaching a consensus. He emphasized that the distribution of seats will be based on the principles of victory and existing representation. Yadav confirmed that he has engaged in discussions with the Congress leadership and that there is no significant disagreement regarding seat allocation.

Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and Nitish Kumar's Decision

When asked about the possibility of joining Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Yadav clarified that he has not received an invitation yet. On the topic of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to join the NDA, Yadav questioned the BJP's influence in persuading him to make such a move.

Yadav reaffirmed the Samajwadi Party's commitment to addressing the issue of caste census, stating that it will not be sidelined and the party will continue to advocate for it.

During his interactions with reporters in Gonda, Yadav criticized the BJP's handling of land-related issues, labeling them as the "biggest land mafia party." He highlighted the prevalence of land mafias in various districts and expressed concern about the deteriorating law and order situation under the BJP government.
